Shadow Work Prayer Candle
Self-Discovery • Reflection • Release • Healing • Transformation • Personal Power
The Shadow Work 7-Day Prayer Candle is created for spiritual and personal reflection centered on exploring the hidden, rejected, wounded, or misunderstood parts of yourself.
Shadow work asks you to look beneath the surface. It invites you to examine recurring patterns, emotional triggers, fears, resentment, shame, limiting beliefs, unhealthy attachments, and parts of yourself you may have learned to suppress in order to survive, belong, or be accepted.
This candle is not about believing there is something “dark” or inherently bad within you. It is about having the courage to ask:
What am I carrying?
Where did it come from?
Why does it still affect me?
And what am I ready to do differently?
The Shadow Work Prayer Candle provides a dedicated flame for honest reflection, journaling, prayer, ancestral reflection, releasing old patterns, reclaiming personal power, and intentionally becoming more conscious of the person you are choosing to become.

How to Use
1. Create a Quiet Space
Place your candle somewhere safe where you can sit without unnecessary distractions. Keep a journal nearby so you can record whatever comes forward during your reflection.
2. Write Your Petition
Write your full name on a small piece of paper.
Beneath your name, write:
“Show me what I need to understand about myself. Give me the courage to face what I find, the wisdom to understand it, and the strength to change what no longer serves me.”
Fold the petition toward yourself and place it safely beneath or beside your candle.
3. Light Your Candle
As you light the flame, ask for clarity rather than judgment.
The purpose is not to punish yourself for past choices. The purpose is to understand yourself well enough to make different choices moving forward.
4. Ask One Question at a Time
Choose one shadow-work question for each session.
You might ask:
“What triggers me most strongly, and why?”
“What am I afraid other people will discover about me?”
“Where do I abandon my own needs to keep others comfortable?”
“What behavior do I repeatedly tolerate even though it hurts me?”
“What qualities in other people irritate me because they reflect something I have not accepted within myself?”
“What family pattern ends with me?”
“What am I still trying to prove—and to whom?”
“Who would I become if I stopped making decisions from fear?”
Write without censoring yourself.
5. Look for the Pattern Beneath the Pattern
When something uncomfortable appears, ask yourself:
When did I first learn this?
What was this behavior originally protecting me from?
Does it still protect me—or is it now limiting me?
Understanding why a pattern developed can help you decide whether it still deserves a place in your life.
6. Close Your Session Intentionally
Shadow work does not require sitting in painful emotions indefinitely. When you finish, close your journal, speak your affirmation, and intentionally return your attention to the present.
Shadow Work Prayer
**“By the light of this flame, I choose to see myself clearly.
Not only the person I show the world, but the person who exists beneath the surface.
Illuminate what I have hidden.
Reveal the patterns I keep repeating.
Show me the wounds that still influence my choices, the fears that still speak through my reactions, and the beliefs I accepted before I was old enough to question them.
Give me courage to look without running.
Give me honesty without cruelty.
Give me accountability without shame.
Help me understand the difference between what happened to me and what I continue to choose.
Where I have been hurt, help me acknowledge it.
Where I have hurt others, give me enough integrity to acknowledge that too.
Where I need boundaries, strengthen them.
Where I need forgiveness, help me understand what forgiveness means for me.
Where I need to release resentment, show me how to put down what I no longer wish to carry.
Reveal the masks I created for survival.
The people-pleaser.
The perfectionist.
The rescuer.
The one who never asks for help.
The one who pretends not to care.
The one who stays silent to keep the peace.
Thank those versions of me for getting me this far.
But let me decide consciously who I need to become next.
Show me what belongs to me.
Show me what belongs to my family history.
Show me what I inherited emotionally but do not have to pass forward.
May wisdom replace unconscious patterns.
May boundaries replace resentment.
May confidence replace fear.
May understanding replace shame.
May intentional choices replace automatic reactions.
I do not fear my shadow.
I turn toward it with a light in my hand.
What I discover, I will understand.
What I understand, I can choose differently.
What I choose differently, I can transform.
I am willing to meet every part of myself—and become whole.”
Shadow Work Affirmation
“I have the courage to know myself deeply. I can acknowledge my wounds without becoming defined by them, recognize my patterns without condemning myself, and consciously choose what I carry forward.”
Reflection Note
Shadow work can sometimes bring up intense or painful memories. Give yourself permission to stop a session when you have reached your limit. Spiritual reflection can complement appropriate professional support when difficult experiences become overwhelming.
Candle Safety
Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep away from children, pets, drafts, curtains, journals, petitions, photographs, and other flammable materials. Always burn on a stable, heat-resistant surface. Keep the wick properly trimmed and discontinue use if the glass becomes cracked or damaged.
